Atomic Big Daddy Alpine Ski:

Powder monster

10-12-05
By Midwester:
This ski is awesome. It's really lightweight so it doesn't take a lot to muscle it around in heavy snow, and it's effortless in light snow. I like it a lot more than the Rossi Scratch BC, or Volkl Gotama as a designated powder ski. It's just more fun to ski since turning is so easy, and you get the same float since the footprint is so huge. I'm about 6'2" 185lb and the first time I skied it through pow I hauled ass. You sit up so high in the snow that you carry way more speed than you do on shorter skinnier skis. You can also carve turns with this thing once you get on the trail back to the lift. It's really fun to lay it down and carve long GS turns with these planks because they're fat but still really stable.

Dynastar Legend Pro Rider Ski:

Best in Show
10-19-04
By RG Carve:
The Legend Pro is an amazing powder ski ideal for larger-built / aggressive skiers who enjoy skiing GS / Super G in the powder. A powerful and super stable ski at high speeds, the Legend Pro (formerly the Super Nobis), is a race stock ski that demands the fall line. The ski blasts through crud yet can still carve on the groomers if you lay them out. Narrow at waist vs. other "big mountain fats," but will still float if you point it. The best powder ski I have ever experienced. 194 is the way to go. This is one French product you don't want to boycott.

If God Skied He would ski this ski

By Critten:
Bottom line this was the best all around fat ski I skied last year. This ski rips on the groomers when you're heading to the lift line. But before you get their this baby will take you to places you never thought possible. This ski is a race room designed and built ski and skis just like that. Yeah it's expensive but it's worth every penny and then some. UNREAL!

Garmont Dynamite G-Fit Alpine Touring Boot:

Supple yet Stiff
02-22-05
By SLO Man:
I'm an intermediate skier that prefers the backcountry versus resort skiing. This boot has been a pleasure to ski in with a Dynafit binding. It is very flexible for touring and is surprisingly stiff for the downhill runs. The liner is warm with a thin sock. Only one minor complaint- one boot squeaks with each step, but I'm sure a little silicone grease will do the trick. Overall, great boot.

Sweet Boots

The Garmont Dynamite is a great boot for me. This is my fist foray into AT after years of tele skiing, so the ability to walk was key, and the Dynamite delivers. It's also quite stiff in ski mode, and the lever that switches between the two is much easier to flick than similar levers on tele boots. The thermo liner is super warm, and in a side by side indoor comparison I wore a standard mountaineering boot on one foot and the Dynamite Thermo on the other, in about 20 minutes the Dynamite was toasty and the mountaineering boot was no warmer than if I'd been in a tennis shoe on that foot.

Arc'teryx Theta AR Jacket - Men's:

Theta AR is superbly well made!

02-04-05
By Anonymous:
Kudos to Arc'teryx for making the best waterproof/breathable shell in the market! The Theta AR is another witness to the quality and integrity of the Arc'teryx brand. If you know quality outdoor brands, then you know Arc'cteryx. This is by far the best shell ever. Superb fit, comfortable design and tough fabrics. It makes The North Face look like a marketing joke.

Great jacket

By Simon:
I had Mountain Hardware Ethereal FTX before and the Arc-Teryx is definitely of higher quality

Arc'teryx Gamma SV Jacket - Men's:

Gamma SV Jacket: Outstanding
09-30-04
By Johann:
Just great in all respects, fit, looks, comfort and warmth. Is very form fitting and is a handsome jacket as well. One of my mainstays in winter, can typically get away wearing this unless there is a deluge, hands down the best in its class, sets the standard but is pricey! Recommended highly.

This is the One

By Marko:
I've tried various flavors of fleece including WindStopper, and this is by far the best and most versatile jacket I've ever owned. It does it all: sheds rain, stops the wind, *breathes* well, good fit. Believe the hype -- this soft shell delivers. This jacket combined with a base layer and a hard shell are all I need to handle anything mother nature cares to serve up when I'm hiking.

G3 AviTECH Shovel:

Bomber !
12-03-04
By Anonymous:
Super pleased with this shovel. I am impressed on the durability, I have pry ed, chipped and even dug out my car, and the thing still looks like new. I like the fact that if the lower shaft breaks you can use the upper shaft in the blade. Bomber stuff as you can expect from the g3 folks.

If you're considering buying a shovel, I'd pick up the G3. Well built, sturdy blade and a big D molded grip....makes handling with gloves or mitts easy.

G3 Climbing Skins with Tip and Tail Connection:

G3 Skins Rule
01-23-04
By Sid:
Loving the new G3 skins! I have many days on them and they provide great traction on the steepest of slopes. The glue works well in any condition. I found you will need to buy an extra large tip loop for the larger board's. I purchased some for my Volkl Gotama's and it works fine.

Great skins, take note of tip loop
02-11-04
By Armando:
Once I got the skins dialed in to my Tele Daddies, they work great. No slippage, easy on/off, great tail retention system. Just make sure, if you have huge wide skis, that the tip loop is big enough to fit.
